Since the beginning of the year, we’ve had some new members join the Romero House team. We wanted to use this opportunity to introduce them to our broader community!
In February, Vincent Smith joined our team as the Youth Program Coordinator. Vincent brings over eight years of experience coordinating programming in creative and community-based settings, with a strong background in music production, logistics, and youth facilitation. He currently works as a Music Program Facilitator at Christie Refugee Welcome Centre, where he supports newcomer and refugee youth through weekly workshops that foster creativity and confidence.
The kids and teens at Romero House have been enjoying a variety of activities on a weekly basis. Families have expressed how much fun their children and youth are having. We are grateful for Vincent!

Emma Wong and Morsal Ahmadi joined us in May as our Summer Community Animators. Morsal is a former resident of Romero House and will be attending York University in September, studying health sciences and kinesiology. Emma is studying urban planning at Toronto Metropolitan University and is also a piano instructor. They’ve been working hard supporting our community programming, including the Volunteer Appreciation Day, the Dorval garden, and the Wanda Street Party. If you see them around, please say hi!

Erika Torres was a placement student from September 2025 to April 2026 and has returned as a Summer Intake Worker. She graduated this spring from George Brown College’s Social Service Worker Program. We are happy to have her back at Romero House!
We are also very excited to welcome Marisol Larrea-Clark back, now as our new Housing and Settlement Coordinator. Marisol was a Summer Worker at Romero House in 2022, returned for the summer of 2023, and was a full-year Worker for two years, from September 2023 until August 2025. During that time, they were a Companion; coordinated communications, community programming (Second Harvest, gardens, bikes, Romero Moves, Camp), and our alumni program. They have been a House Coordinator, living at almost every one of the houses: Bloor, Keele, Wanda, and Edna.
We’re looking forward to the upcoming months with new staff members!
