Evening of Peace Reflection

Soyun Kim – Romero House Worker

On December 25th, 2024, Romero House had an event named Evening of Peace. It was held in the basement of the church hall of St Martins-in-the-Fields as usual thanks to St. Martins for welcoming us into their space again!

The Evening of Peace is an annual party with a  celebration on Christmas day but it’s not about Christmas, but for families at Romero House who could have a hard time during winter holidays. Romero House invites all of the resident families, workers, volunteers and their friends to share their food and traditions.

This year again, we tried to have a big party having a fun time altogether, where all feel welcome and don’t feel lonely in holiday time. With a lot of help from workers, also with delicious food from resident families and volunteers, we happily had a festive time.

In the afternoon volunteers came to set up the place and warm up food and greet the guests. We had a kids program for younger kids, a talent show for those who wanted to share their talents like dance. At the end of the party, all the people danced together with various types of music from different countries. I appreciate all volunteers and workers who helped for the Evening of Peace and send a happy new year’s luck to everyone.
