What?
On September 20, people across Canada will come together for a Cross-Country Day of Action for Migrant Rights. The day will bring attention to the experiences of migrants living with precarious immigration status and call for greater security, dignity, and rights for all.
Why?
The organizers are calling for permanent resident status for migrants, automatic renewal of work and study permits, an end to employer-tied work permits, and an end to deportations, detention, and family separation. They are also advocating for equal access to labour rights, housing, healthcare, and other essential services.
These issues are close to the heart of Romero House. We know that immigration status can profoundly affect a person’s ability to work, find housing, access services, and build a secure life. Standing with people navigating these challenges is part of building communities where everyone can belong.
Who?
The day of action is organized by the Migrant Rights Network, alongside migrant-led organizations, community groups, workers, and supporters across Canada. Everyone who cares about migrant justice and the well-being of our communities is invited to participate.

Sunday, September 20, 2026, with actions taking place in communities across Canada.
