Wanda Road is having its annual street party on Saturday, June 6th. The party starts at 1:00 pm. The road will be closed off for the afternoon into the night for the party. There will be games for kids, live music, dancing, and more.
Let’s celebrate each other and the community that has welcomed the families of Romero House for the past 35 years!
Dinner will be a potluck so for those who are able, please bring a dish to share (a main course, salad, dessert, or drink).
The Wanda Road street party began as a way to build community between the Romero House community and our neighbours. For many who have lived at Romero House or been part of the community, this is a joyful time to see old friends. Feel free to bring family and friends; we would love to see them there!
We are joining the “We are better together” campaign”. The Canadian Council for Refugees, along with over 200 supporting organizations across the country, launched the We’re Better Together campaign to counter the rising tide of hate and blame towards immigrants and refugees. At the party, We will be sharing with you information about this campaign and how you can take action. We can learn key messages, best practices for persuasion, and how to respond to negative messages about immigrants and refugees to help change the public opinion.
