Rally for Housing and Shelter Funding Now!

We were happy to hear that the federal government had agreed to give $97M to Toronto’s shelter system. Unfortunately, Minister Chrystia Freeland has since said that no more money is coming. We appreciate what the federal government has done so far but we need more! We have a housing crisis in this City and all three levels of government need to step up. The housing crisis in Toronto is have a devastating impact on refugee claimants, especially many African refugee claimants who are forced to sleep outdoors.

Join us Friday, July 28 at 12pm outside Minister Freeland’s office to demand better.

Rally for Housing and Shelter Funding Now
Friday July 28
12pm
Minister Freeland’s Office – 344 Bloor Street West (Spadina and Bloor)

We are calling for:

  1. Funding to make the Refugee Reception Centre a reality.
  2. Funding for the Canada Ontario Housing Benefit, which ran out in May. This benefit is essential for people to move out of shelters and into permanent housing.
