We feasted! Reflecting on our community lamb feast

On Saturday May 2nd, 2026 we held our monthly community gathering for resident families. This time, our staff teamed up to bring to life Mary Jo’s wish and put together a special meal for everyone.

After 2-months of research and logistics discussions, lamb feast was in the works! We prepared the invitation, sent it out to our residents, and started planning the side dishes. A week before the event, Oren, Robbie, and Jalal went on a day-long trip to gather all the supplies. Excitement brewed in the office as the 25kg of meat defrosted in the fridge and preparations for the seasoning started.

On Saturday at 7am sharp, Oren, Robbie, and Jalal started preparing the lamb. With the help of house coordinators, volunteers, and residents, the lamb debuted at 5pm with a rich variety of complementary dishes.

The community gathering brought around 60 people together, including current and former resident families, staff and volunteers. It was wonderful to see everyone meet, and enjoy their time. Kids were excited to play outside as the weather warms up and the adults had the chance to extend their chatting and relax. We are grateful for these moments & to be reminded of the magic that is connecting through a delicious meal.
